49 University of Galway students punished last year for using AI to cheat on exams

49 students at the University Of Galway were punished for using artificial intelligence to cheat in exams this year.

13 students who were caught received an automatic zero in their assessment according to the University’s response to a Freedom Of Information request.

Trinity College, UCD, DCU and Maynooth says they don’t categorise cheating relating to AI.

Prof Barry O’Sullivan at the University College Cork says there are many challenges to AI:
