Calls for the housing threshold limit in Mayo to be increased to tackle the housing crisis

A Mayo councillor has called for an increase in the social housing threshold limit in the county.

Currently, if a family is earning more than 33 thousand euro a year, they cannot qualify for social housing.

But these families would also find it difficult to get a mortgage on such a low income.

General election candidate Patsy O’Brien says that many people are struggling to afford their homes, and more needs to be done to assist those.
