The long established Meals on Wheels Service in Ballindine has been suddenly withdrawn and there is anger locally over the development, according to Aontú councillor Paul Lawless.
The General Election candidate has called for a meeting with the Dept of Social Protection and the company that had been providing the service, to ask what is the plan to restore the vital local service to many elderly and others who depend on the service for a hot meal.
Councillor Lawless says it’s simply not acceptable to suddenly take away such an important service and he’s been speaking to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley:
Midwest News have contacted the South Mayo Development Company, who have been running the scheme, for comment and we await their response.
