Regional and local roads across County Mayo have been allocated funding of €40.5 million by the Department of Transport.
This funding has been granted with the aim of improving road safety, connectivity and resilience against extreme weather conditions.
Minister Dara Calleary has welcomed this vital funding, but says that Government funded roads projects in Mayo are ‘slow to move’.
He says that he will continue to work with his Fianna Fáil colleagues on Mayo County Council to ensure that these road upgrades are delivered soon.
Here is a list of some of the roads where funding has been allocated:
R332 Kilmaine to Tuam (Foxhall) upgrade – €1.2 million
R314 Killala Road improvement – €1 million
Cong Outer Relief Road – €200,000
Newport Town Bridge rehabilitation – €195,000
L1913 – 71 Caher Road improvement – €56,000
Bunduilee Sea Wall repair – €55,000
L1811 Islandeady drainage scheme – €41,000
L1710 Derrywash Road Drainage upgrade – €38,000
R313 Lahardane to Crossmolina Road upgrade – €30,000
L13254 Mullahowney Road drainage – €25,000
