An urgent drug alert has been issued to all prisons after a number of overdoses at Irish jails, including one in which a person died.
The HSE’s Drug Treatment Centre lab confirmed the presence of nitazene, a potent synthetic opioid, which can be found in pills or powder.
The Prison Service says extra vigilance is being taken and an information campaign for prisoners has started on the dangers of the drug.
The council are aware of the spill.
